Letterman Finally Airs Hicks' Set

Growing up in Houston I remember watching Bill Hicks doing stand up on some of the local cable channels and laughing my young ass off (when I got the jokes of course: Hicks was very intelligent, discussing all manner of sociopolitical and religious subjects and I was just a kid at the time). When he died of pancreatic cancer in 1994 at the age of 32 he was being called the next Lenny Bruce, which may have contributed to David Letterman and his producer at the time completely removing this 1993 performance from the show. In this clip from a few nights ago Letterman has Hicks' mother on to watch the censored set and very classily takes total responsibility for cutting her son's performance from the broadcast:
